My Freshman Year "Community and Diversity" Reading Response

In this chapter, Nathan talks about the community that is within in the university and ways that the university is diverse. Nathan talks about the way community works at AnyU such as having groups where students can have different discussions. She also talks about how RA's sends out interest students to surveys and the RA suggests that the hallway should do more things together. This part of the book personally speaks to me, because my hallway does not communicate at all and it is kind of separated. There are many cliques in the hallway and no one is that friendly the way that everyone should be with each other. I think that the CA's should focus more on creating of somewhat a family, because personally I know I would feel better coming back from class to a dorm with friendly people. She then talks about diversity which takes place in doing research. Researchers ask students how often do they have conversations with someone of a different race or ethnicity. Fifty percent of seniors said "often" or "very often" and 13 percent said they did not. Currently in 2015, I feel like the results would be the same for Bloomsburg University so I could relate to this chapter.
